About me

I was born on 17th January 1967. Most of my childhood was spent in the northern part of Germany. I studied languages (English and French) in Osnabrueck before leaving for London in 1988.

BBC Worldwide gave me the opportunity to start a career in publishing. This was in June 1989 when I entered the foreign rights department at BBC Books. I worked for the BBC for nine very enjoyable years.

During this period I had the great pleasure of meeting some fantastic authors who were very often also tv presenters and … my very best friend Desmond Morris.

The brilliant team at BBC Books made it possible to increase co-edition sales by 6-fold within a period of two years. It was never just a job and I was very sad to leave but after yet another restructuring phase in 1998 I decided it was time to go.

My next challenge was as Rights Director for illustrated books at Element Books. This was a brief encounter for only 9 months but a very good learning curve. I was then offered to work for Bertelsmann in Frankfurt. It was a great opportunity and challenge to build a co-edition business for the illustrated imprints Falken Verlag, Mosaik and Frederking & Thaler.

Unfortunately Bertelsmann decided in 2002 to close the illustrated side in order to concentrate on their core business.

This gave me the opportunity to start my own agency and I am grateful for the situation that forced my decision. So, there we are! Another opportunity in life!
